Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about Spark Social Sports
Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find the rules?
Check out our rules page here or go to sparksocialsports.com/rules.
How do I register?
Click the “Leagues” link, select your sport, then click on the Register button.
Who can play?
We are a co-ed adult league. You must be 21 years old to play.
Do I need experience to play?
No Experience is needed! Our leagues are social leagues before anything else! If you’re ready to have fun and do something active, you’re good!
What if I can't make all the games?
Not a big deal. Each roster has extra players because we know not everyone can make every game. Just let your captain know if you can’t make a game on a given week.
What is the cost per season?
The one-time league fee varies depending on your league and location. Navigate to the “Leagues” link and your desired sport to determine a league’s price per player.
How long is the season?
A typical season is 5-7 weeks + playoff day, depending on the league/sport and time of year. Games are played once per week.
How long do we play for?
Kickball: Games are 7 innings or 50 minutes long, whichever comes first.
Volleyball: 3 games to 25 points (rally scoring). Typically a 50 min match.
Dodgeball: 50-minute matches; typically results in ~10 games/match
Cornhole: Each match is 3 games to 21, typically about a 50 min match.
Pickball: Each league format may be different but typically either 5 games to 11 or 4 games to 15. About 50 minutes of court time that may span over a 2 hour block.
How many players are on each team?
Kickball: Each team ideally consists of 16-25 players, typically with a minimum of 8 males and 8 females.
Volleyball: Each team ideally consists of 9-12 players, typically with a minimum of 4 males and 4 females.
Dodgeball: Each team ideally consists of 28-32 players, typically with a minimum of 12 males and 12 females.
Cornhole: Each team roster ideally consists of 7-10 players, typically with a minimum of 2 males and 2 females. Cornhole matches are played on 3 sets of boards.
Why is there a minimum # of players on each team?
We require a minimum # of players as there are always a couple players on vacation or out of town on any given week, and we want to make sure there are always enough players each week to play a game and avoid forfeits.
Do I need any equipment to play?
Nope. Just show up to the games and be ready to have fun! We will provide a team T-shirt for your games! For Kickball, you can wear sneakers, but cleats are encouraged (no metal spikes).
How will I know my teammates and schedule?
After registration closes, you’ll get an email with the details of the league and your team schedule. Your captain will also reach out to you and coordinate your team communication.
What if I do not have enough people for a full team?
No problem. Your group will be combined with others after registration has closed to form a full team. It’s a great way to meet new friends! When registering you’ll see the option to join as a small group.
What if it is just me registering?
No problem. When you register, there’s an option to join as a “Free Agent”. When registration closes, we’ll add you to a fun team that needs more players!
Can you hold me a spot?
No, we cannot hold spots. Our leagues are first-come first-serve which is why we encourage everyone to get signed up early before we sell out!
When do we get our T-Shirts?
T-Shirts are distributed just before the first game by your captain.
Do you ever cancel to due to inclement weather?
As a rule of thumb for outdoor leagues, we will play in the rain. However, in the event the weather is severe, we will do our best to schedule makeups, either by adding additional weeks to the season or by playing multiple games on the same night. These decisions will be based on what Spark Social Sports feels is the best decision. We understand that changes in times and dates may interfere with player obligations outside of the league, as such, Spark Social Sports will do its best to communicate these changes ahead of time. However these changes are not grounds for a refund.
Can I register a Corporate team and have my company pay for the team?
Yes! Please email us directly and we’ll get you setup!
Do I need to be vaccinated?
Our municipalities have removed all mask mandates and requirement for showing vaccination status at leagues. If anything changes, we will be sure to update our policies.
Do you provide refunds?
Spark Social Sports leagues, events and tournaments have limited space and cancellations hinder our ability to properly plan and organize, as well as disrupt costs that have already been incurred. If you are unable to participate, we may be able to transfer your registration to another league within the same season based on availability.
If players or teams choose not to participate after they have registered, 14+ days before the season starts, they may request a credit to use towards a future league, transfer their registration to another league (if space is available), or transfer their registration to another player within the same season.
A player’s or team’s decision not to participate in a league they have registered for is not grounds for a refund.
